What You're Actually Buying
This is a NOx sensor, not a temp sensor — different job. It sits in the exhaust stream (either before or after the SCR catalyst depending on which position you're replacing) and reports nitrogen oxide levels back to the ECM so it can manage DEF dosing. Get the wrong position and the truck will still throw codes, just different ones.
Fits DD13 and DD15 engines in Freightliner Cascadias, roughly 2008 through current production, but Detroit's changed connector styles and mounting over the years, so 'DD15' alone isn't enough to go on.
The 5WK97403 stamped on some of these is the Continental/Bosch-family sensor casting number — that's the actual sensor manufacturer, while A0101538128 is how Detroit/Freightliner catalogs it under their own part numbering.
Reading the Cross Numbers
A0101538128, EA0101538128, and Detroit Diesel's 1815189 all point to the same physical sensor — the 'E' prefix and format changes are just Detroit's way of tracking supersessions and running changes, not a different part. Automann's 577.23601 and Alliance's G01 A0101538128 are aftermarket cross-references built to the same fitment and connector spec.
Where guys get burned is the position — upstream vs downstream — and connector count. These sensors run a specific pin count and connector shape, and DD13/DD15 aftertreatment wiring isn't identical to every other Detroit application, so don't assume a sensor that fits a DD16 or an older Series 60 setup will plug in here.
Bottom line: pull the number off the sensor you're taking out, or run the truck's VIN, before you order. That's the only way to know for sure which position and which generation you've got.
