A complete hood, or just what broke

Two complete assemblies are in stock: the Kenworth T680 2013-2022 hood at $3,300.00 and the Volvo VNL 2018+ hood at $4,140.00 (Volvo 24244649 / 23336343). Both are aftermarket direct replacements, and both come as the hood — plan the grille, the trim and the mirrors separately unless you are told otherwise on the listing.

Far more often the hood itself is fine and the latch is not. A Volvo VN/VNL hood latch assembly (20565618 left, 20565619 right) is $47.99 a side, and the upper latch spindle kit is $39.99. Fixing a hood that will not stay shut for under a hundred dollars is a very different job from buying a hood.

How a hood ships, and why we quote it

A complete hood is roughly 395 lb and the size of a small car panel — it cannot go parcel. It moves on a pallet by freight, and the cost depends on your ZIP, whether the delivery point has a dock, and whether you need a lift gate. We do not bury a guessed freight number in the price. Does the hood come painted?

No. Aftermarket hood assemblies ship in primer or raw gel-coat depending on the line, so your body shop can match the truck's colour. Budget for paint when you compare our price against a dealer hood.

Will an aftermarket hood line up like the original?

It mounts on the original hinge and latch points and uses the original hardware. Fibreglass and composite panels do move slightly with temperature, so expect a body shop to shim and adjust the latch on fitting — that is normal on a dealer hood too.

What does a hood assembly weigh?

About 395 lb for both the T680 and the VNL. That is the weight the freight quote is based on, and the reason it is not a parcel item.

My hood will not stay latched — do I need a whole hood?

Usually not. Start with the latch assembly and the spindle kit; a worn spindle lets the hood lift at speed and that is what eventually cracks the corners. A latch is $47.99 a side against $3,300 or more for a hood.

Do you have hoods for Peterbilt, Freightliner or International?

Not today — the complete hoods we stock are the Kenworth T680 and the Volvo VNL. Hood mirrors we do carry for Freightliner Cascadia and International LT. If you need a hood for another truck, ask and we will tell you honestly whether we can source it.
