What You're Actually Buying
This is a spin-on style fuel filter built for the tighter injection tolerances on the DD13/DD15/DD16 platform - these engines don't tolerate contamination the way the older mechanical injection setups did, so the media and seal spec matter more than people think.
On the 47X, this is showing up on 2023-2026 builds. Detroit updated the filter design a couple times as they refined the engine family, so don't assume every 47X takes the same filter without checking.
This isn't a universal filter with a sticker slapped on it - it's built to the A4720921705 print. If the number on your old filter doesn't match somewhere in the cross-reference, don't force it on.
How the Cross Numbers Line Up
A4720921405 and A4720921405001 are Detroit's own earlier revision numbers - same filter family, updated as running changes came through on seal material or media. The Fleetguard/Peterbilt FK11011FLG is the aftermarket equivalent built to the same mounting and micron spec.
Where guys get burned on these is thread size and seal OD - Detroit tightened up the sealing surface spec between revisions, and a filter that's off by even a millimeter on the seal groove will weep fuel after a few hundred miles, not right away. That's the kind of comeback nobody wants.
Rule of thumb: pull the old filter, read the number stamped or printed on the housing, and match it against what's in our cross-reference table before you order. If the number's worn off, give us the truck's VIN and we'll pull it from the build sheet.

A4720921705 Cross-Reference & Interchange Numbers
These manufacturer and aftermarket numbers commonly cross-reference to A4720921705. Use them to identify the part — then confirm the exact fit by VIN or the number stamped on your old unit before you order. An interchange is a starting point, not a fitment guarantee.

Frequently asked questions
Does A4720921705 fit my 2024 Western Star 47X?
Likely, but confirm it - Detroit ran a couple revisions through the 47X build years. Give us your VIN or the number off the old filter and we'll verify before you order.
Is this the same as the Fleetguard FK11011FLG?
It crosses to it - same mounting and micron rating - but it's not the identical part number. If FK11011FLG is what's currently in your truck, this should be a direct replacement, but check the seal OD against your old filter to be sure.
Why are there multiple Detroit numbers (A4720921405, A4720921405001) for what looks like the same filter?
Those are earlier revisions of the same filter family - Detroit updates the print number when they make a running change to seal material or media without redesigning the whole part. They still interchange, but match by the number on your old unit to be safe.
