This is a manual twist lock, meaning you turn it by hand (no air or cam-lever assist) to engage the ISO corner casting on a 20' or 40' container. It bolts or drops into the bolster of a container chassis and rotates to lock the container's bottom corner casting in place so it doesn't walk or lift off during transport.
Freightliner and Peterbilt come into play because a lot of drayage and intermodal fleets run those tractors pulling chassis from builders like Fontaine, Pratt, or Hyundai Translead. The twist lock doesn't care what's hooked to the fifth wheel - it cares about the chassis bolster and casting size, which is standardized ISO on almost every intermodal chassis out there.
Bottom line: don't buy this off the tractor badge. Buy it off the chassis or the old lock you're pulling out.
Why These Numbers Cross
ML60-4, ML60-16, and BD-A2 show up as generic ISO cross numbers because manual twist locks are built to the same ISO 1161 corner casting spec across most manufacturers. The body dimensions, the twist head, and the mounting footprint are close enough that these numbers get swapped in the field all the time.
Where it gets you in trouble is mounting hole spacing and the length of the lock body itself - some bolster designs use a shorter shank, some use a longer one, and a lock that's technically ISO-rated can still sit wrong or bind if the shank length doesn't match your bolster pocket. Same goes for the handle/lever style - some techs want a straight handle, some want an offset for tight clearance.
Pull the old lock and check the stamped number or measure shank length and bolster hole spacing before you order. If there's no stamp left (common on beat-up units), measure and call us - we'd rather match it right than have you shipping a $99 part back.

TMTL01 fits on the trailer/chassis, not the tractor, so the Peterbilt itself doesn't determine fitment. What matters is the container chassis bolster and ISO corner casting size. Check the old twist lock's shank length and mounting hole spacing against TMTL01 before ordering.
Is this the same as an ML60-4?
Close enough that they cross-reference on ISO spec, but 'same' depends on your bolster. ML60-4 and TMTL01 share the same corner casting engagement and general ISO 1161 sizing, but if your chassis uses a different shank length or hole pattern, one might bolt in clean and the other might not. Measure the old part before assuming a straight swap.
Is this a manual lock or does it need air to operate?
