98-9330

98-9330 Cross-Reference — DR-016-1 Reefer Top Fairing / Top Cap - Fits Thermo King Precedent

98-9330 is the top fairing — the top cap — on Thermo King Precedent S-600, S-700 and C-600 reefer units, and it is the number most people hunt down after road debris or a dock hit cracks the cap.

What The Top Cap Does

The top fairing is the upper shell of the Precedent unit. It closes off the top of the housing above the condenser section and carries airflow over and around the unit face. It is a molded exterior panel, not a structural bracket, so it does no load work — but it does keep water, road spray and grit out of the areas behind it.

Because it sits at the highest point on the nose of the trailer, it takes the worst of the abuse. Low-clearance doors, dock canopies, tree limbs and highway debris all hit here first. Once the cap is cracked or a mounting boss is torn out, wind load starts working the panel and the damage spreads from the fastener holes outward.

Our replacement is an aftermarket panel built to the same dimensions as the original top cap, in weather- and corrosion-resistant material. Position is Top. It ships as a direct replacement for the cracked or missing cap and carries a PartStop 6+ month warranty.

Why 98-9330 And DR-016-1 Match

98-9330 is the number stamped or labeled on the original top fairing used across the Precedent S-600, S-700 and C-600 series. Those units share the same upper housing profile, so one cap covers the group. That is why a single number carries across three series instead of splitting into separate part numbers per model.

DR-016-1 is our aftermarket number for the same panel. It was built off the original cap's outside dimensions, mounting hole pattern and fastener boss locations, which is what makes the two numbers interchangeable on the unit. The numbers are listed side by side for identification only — we are not affiliated with or authorized by Thermo King.

Cross-reference gets you to the right family of part. It does not confirm fit on your specific unit. Verify against the number on the panel you are pulling off, or against the unit serial plate, before you order.

Check Before You Order

Pull the serial and model plate on the reefer unit and confirm you are on a Precedent S-600, S-700 or C-600. Then find the number on the old cap itself. Molded numbers on these panels are often on the underside near a mounting flange and are usually hidden under road film — wipe the area down before you read it.

Inspect what the cap bolts to while it is off. If the panel was flapping in the wind, the fasteners have likely worked the mounting points on the housing, and the studs or captive nuts can be pulled or stripped. Replacing the cap onto damaged mounting points will crack the new panel the same way. Sort the hardware first.

98-9330 Cross-Reference & Interchange Numbers

These manufacturer and aftermarket numbers commonly cross-reference to 98-9330. Use them to identify the part — then confirm the exact fit by VIN or the number stamped on your old unit before you order. An interchange is a starting point, not a fitment guarantee.

Frequently asked questions

Will DR-016-1 fit my Precedent if the old cap is already gone?

It is built to the original top cap dimensions for the S-600, S-700 and C-600 series, so it should line up. With the old panel missing you have no number to read, so confirm the unit model and serial off the data plate instead. Compare the mounting hole pattern on the housing to the new panel before final assembly.

Is this the same as a full front housing or just the top piece?

Just the top piece. Position is Top — this is the upper fairing or top cap only. The lower housing panels, doors and grille sections are separate parts and are not included.

Is this a Thermo King part?

No. This is an aftermarket panel manufactured by World Truck Parts and sold as a direct replacement. The number 98-9330 is listed for identification so you can match the part you are replacing. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or authorized by Thermo King.
