What The Top Cap Does
The top fairing is the upper shell of the Precedent unit. It closes off the top of the housing above the condenser section and carries airflow over and around the unit face. It is a molded exterior panel, not a structural bracket, so it does no load work — but it does keep water, road spray and grit out of the areas behind it.
Because it sits at the highest point on the nose of the trailer, it takes the worst of the abuse. Low-clearance doors, dock canopies, tree limbs and highway debris all hit here first. Once the cap is cracked or a mounting boss is torn out, wind load starts working the panel and the damage spreads from the fastener holes outward.

98-9330 is the number stamped or labeled on the original top fairing used across the Precedent S-600, S-700 and C-600 series. DR-016-1 is our aftermarket number for the same panel. It was built off the original cap's outside dimensions, mounting hole pattern and fastener boss locations, which is what makes the two numbers interchangeable on the unit. Check Before You Order
Pull the serial and model plate on the reefer unit and confirm you are on a Precedent S-600, S-700 or C-600. Then find the number on the old cap itself. Molded numbers on these panels are often on the underside near a mounting flange and are usually hidden under road film — wipe the area down before you read it.
Inspect what the cap bolts to while it is off. If the panel was flapping in the wind, the fasteners have likely worked the mounting points on the housing, and the studs or captive nuts can be pulled or stripped. Replacing the cap onto damaged mounting points will crack the new panel the same way. Sort the hardware first.

It is built to the original top cap dimensions for the S-600, S-700 and C-600 series, so it should line up. With the old panel missing you have no number to read, so confirm the unit model and serial off the data plate instead. Compare the mounting hole pattern on the housing to the new panel before final assembly.
Is this the same as a full front housing or just the top piece?
Just the top piece. Position is Top — this is the upper fairing or top cap only. The lower housing panels, doors and grille sections are separate parts and are not included.
