How do I tell left from right?

Sides are named from the driver's seat: left = driver side, right = passenger (curb) side. Every listing states its side in the title. If you're replacing both, check whether a matched pair listing saves you money.

Will a heated mirror work if my truck wasn't wired for it?

The assembly bolts on either way, but the heater needs the power circuit. Most International LT trucks of this era have the door wiring in place even on base trims — check your current plug against the listing's connector, or send us your VIN and we'll verify before you order.

Assembly, glass, or just the cover — what do I actually need?

If the arm is solid and only the glass is cracked, glass alone is the cheap fix. If the head rattles, the motor is dead, or the arm mount is damaged, go complete assembly — chasing worn parts one at a time costs more than the assembly does.
