What connects the air brake chamber to the S-cam?
The slack adjuster. The chamber's pushrod attaches to the slack adjuster with a clevis and pin, and the slack adjuster turns the S-cam shaft, which spreads the brake shoes against the drum. An automatic slack adjuster also takes up shoe wear so pushrod stroke stays within the adjustment limit.
