Why should you never open or rebuild a spring brake chamber?
A spring brake contains a large coil spring under enormous load that can cause fatal injury if the housing is opened. Never cut, grind, or disassemble one — replace the complete assembly. Caging the spring with the proper tool to remove or move the unit is a controlled procedure, not a driveway job.
