Haze, yellowing and water: what's fixable
Polycarbonate lenses oxidize under UV — the yellow haze that makes light scatter instead of throw. Polishing buys months; the oxidation returns because the factory hardcoat is gone. Condensation is worse: fog inside means the seal has failed, and water eventually kills the reflector coating and any electronics in the housing. Light mist that clears with driving is borderline; standing droplets or a tide line is a replacement, not a project.
The practical test: if low beams feel weak but bulbs test fine, park facing a wall — a healthy beam has a crisp cutoff line; a milky blur means the lens/reflector system is done scattering your lumens.
Matching an assembly: generation and side
Housings are generation-specific — front-end facelifts change them completely even when the truck looks similar — and side-specific. Match the listing's years and the OEM cross-reference against the number molded into your housing's back. DOT compliance matters: everything we list is a DOT direct replacement, which is what keeps the beam pattern legal and the inspection short.
Buying one side? If the survivor is years old, its yellowed lens next to a new clear one will be visible every night — pairs keep output and color matched, and pair pricing usually makes the decision easy.
LED assemblies: when the upgrade math works
LED assemblies put more, whiter light on the road, draw less current and effectively never need bulbs — on a truck that runs nights, they pay for themselves in visibility and skipped bulb changes. Two honest caveats: LEDs run cool, so they don't melt snow off the lens like halogens do (a squeegee lives in the door pocket up here), and cheap no-name units with poor beam control blind oncoming traffic and fail inspection. DOT-marked LED assemblies with a proper cutoff are the ones worth wiring in — plug-and-play into the factory harness on the applications we list.

Frequently asked questions
Polish the lens or replace the assembly?
Polishing is a temporary win — the UV hardcoat is gone and haze returns in months. If light output matters to your routes, or there's any moisture inside, replacement is the fix that lasts.
Is condensation inside a headlight an inspection violation?
It gets written when it degrades output — and it always ends up degrading output, then corroding contacts. Treat visible standing moisture as a failed housing.
Will an LED assembly work with my truck's wiring?
The applications we list are plug-in DOT replacements for the factory harness. A few chassis want an anti-flicker adapter (stated on the listing). No cutting, no relays for the standard installs.
Why do my new headlights seem aimed wrong?
New assemblies need aiming — every housing tolerates slightly different adjuster positions. Ten minutes against a wall (or the shop aimer): cutoff at spec height, kick-up to the right shoulder. Aim before judging any headlight.
