This is a gas-charged shock built for the 108SD's suspension, made to handle the weight and abuse that comes with vocational work — dump, mixer, refuse, whatever you've got bolted to the frame. Freightliner ran a few different valving and length specs across this platform depending on axle position and GVWR, so 10-14339-000 isn't a blanket fit for every 108SD off the lot.
Surest way to know you've got the right one: pull the old shock and read the number stamped or on the tag near the eyelet. If it matches or crosses to 10-14339-000, you're set. If the numbers don't line up, don't force it — check your VIN build sheet or call us with the chassis info.

It crosses to it — same mounting length and bushing spec as far as our reference data shows — but Monroe's number isn't identical to the Freightliner number, it's just built to the same fitment. Match bushing bore and overall length against your old unit to be sure.
Can I run one shock at a time or should I replace in pairs?
Technically you can run one, but shocks wear evenly on both sides and mismatched damping will make the truck ride uneven and wear tires odd. We usually recommend replacing both sides on an axle at the same time.
