What This Seal Actually Is
This is a steer axle wheel oil seal for oil-lubricated hub systems — not the grease-packed kind. Size is 3.5" shaft to 4.84" bore, which is a common steer axle spec across a lot of Class 7/8 trucks running Stemco, National, or Chicago Rawhide hubs.
It's a wear-sleeve style seal, meaning it rides on a separate hardened sleeve pressed onto the spindle instead of running directly on bare metal. That's the whole point of paying for a Plus XL or equivalent unit instead of a bargain-bin lip seal — the sleeve is replaceable and keeps the seal from grooving your spindle.
Used correctly, this keeps 85W-140 or synthetic gear oil in the hub cavity where it belongs, lubricating the wheel bearings instead of leaking onto your brake rotor or drum.
Why All Those Other Numbers Cross to 35066
Seal manufacturers all build to the same SAE bore/shaft/width dimensions when they're targeting the same hub application, so National's 370001A, Stemco's 3808036 and 3828036, Triseal's 69626K and 69699K, and Chicago Rawhide's 35059 all land in the same physical envelope as the 35066. Same story with Mack's 25624921, Volvo's 20437527, and Cummins' 3096224 — different part-number systems, same seal spec for that spindle.
The catch with oil seals: outer diameter, bore diameter, and overall width all have to match tight, because there's no gasket taking up slack like on some other seal types. A seal that's off by even a millimeter on OD won't seat right in the hub bore and will leak or spin.
Don't go by brand name alone. Pull the old seal, read whatever number is stamped on the metal case, and match dimensions if the number's worn off. If you're not sure, measure bore and OD with calipers before you order — steer axle seals from different truck makes can look identical but have different lip configurations.
Ordering From PartStop
We stock this locally in Tacoma, so if you're a shop or owner-op nearby, you can grab it same-day and get the truck back on the road. Ship nationwide if you're not local — this is a common enough seal that we move a lot of them.
Comes with our standard 6+ month warranty. Aftermarket seal, not a Factory Mack or Volvo box, priced accordingly at $47.99 — does the job the OE part does at OE spec, just without the OE sticker price.
Before you order, confirm fitment against your VIN or the number stamped on the old seal. Steer axles vary enough between makes and even model years that we'd rather you double-check than send back a return.
35066 Cross-Reference & Interchange Numbers
These manufacturer and aftermarket numbers commonly cross-reference to 35066. Use them to identify the part — then confirm the exact fit by VIN or the number stamped on your old unit before you order. An interchange is a starting point, not a fitment guarantee.

Frequently asked questions
Does 35066 fit my Freightliner steer axle?
Depends on the axle spec, not just the truck brand — Freightliners came with different steer axle setups depending on GVW and year. Check the number on your old seal or confirm with your VIN before ordering. If the old seal's stamped 35066, 370001A, or one of the other numbers in our cross list, this will interchange.
Is this the same as the Stemco 3808036?
Same physical seal spec, different manufacturer's part number. Stemco, National, SKF, and the rest all build to the same bore/OD/width dimensions for this application, so 3808036 crosses to 35066. Doesn't mean identical construction inside, but they're built for the same job on the same spindle.
Do I need the wear sleeve too, or does this seal include it?
This 35066 listing is the seal itself — check if your hub kit needs a separate wear sleeve or if yours is already sound. If you're replacing the seal because the old one leaked from wear grooves on the spindle or sleeve, budget for a new sleeve too or you'll just chew through another seal in a few months.
