What This Joint Is
CP25RPLS1 is a two-size u-joint: one trunnion pair runs 71.2mm caps on a 214mm span, the other runs 52.3mm caps on a 208mm span. That mismatch is deliberate. It lets one joint tie a large-series shaft tube yoke to a smaller companion or end yoke without changing the whole shaft assembly. Measure both pairs before you order anything.
Because the cross is stepped, orientation matters at install. The large caps go into the yoke bored for them, and forcing the small end into an oversize bore will chew the bearing cup and egg the yoke ears within a few thousand miles. Confirm which yoke takes which cap before you press anything in.
This is an aftermarket replacement joint. Other manufacturers' part numbers in this article are listed for identification only. PartStop is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or authorised by any of those manufacturers.
Why These Numbers Cross
The cross-reference list is long because this joint size has been sold through truck OEM parts counters, axle builders, and driveline specialists for years, each with its own numbering. Meritor 25RPL, 25RPLS, CP25RPL, CP25RPL1, CP25RPL3, CP25RPL8, CP25RPL9 and CP25RPL11 are the core family, with the suffix changes tracking kit contents and lube arrangement rather than a different cross size.
Truck builders then stamped the same joint with their own numbers. Freightliner shows 01CP25RPLSE, TDACP25RPLS, TDACP25RPLS1, TWDCP25RPLS, PFTDACP25RPLS and ZDRCP25RPLS1. Mack lists 8235-CP25RPLS. Navistar uses 24002080, 24202236, 2502-922-C, 2502-922-C91, 2519532C91, ATICP25RPLS and EE24002080. Volvo shows 85107584. Same physical cross and cup set underneath.
The driveline and aftermarket brands fill out the rest: Dana 35-RPL25X and DS15-RPL25X, Spicer PAC25RPLS and PACCP25RPLS, Neapco 6-0025 and UJ60025, Automann 752.1225R, 755.1225R and AM7521225R, Euclid EDL25RPL1, Rockwell 25RPL-1, Sirco S5-25RPLSX, PAI 5909, Newstar S-13530, World American WARPLS25, and 3901731. A cross list is a starting point, not a fitment promise — verify by VIN or by the number on the old joint.
Failure Signs And Checks
A dying joint announces itself as a clunk on throttle transitions and a vibration that climbs with road speed, not engine speed. Grab the shaft and twist. Any felt lash at the cross, any rust-coloured dust around a cap seal, and the joint is done. Brinelled cups leave flat spots you can feel as a notch when you rock the shaft through its arc.
Before pressing in a replacement, check the yoke ears for wear and the snap ring grooves for burrs. A yoke that has been running a loose joint will have oval bores, and a new cross will not survive in it. Clean the bores, chase the grooves, and confirm the retention style matches what came out.
CP25RPLS1 Cross-Reference & Interchange Numbers
These manufacturer and aftermarket numbers commonly cross-reference to CP25RPLS1. Use them to identify the part — then confirm the exact fit by VIN or the number stamped on your old unit before you order. An interchange is a starting point, not a fitment guarantee.

Frequently asked questions
How do I confirm CP25RPLS1 is the right joint for my shaft?
Measure the old cross across both bearing cap pairs and compare to 71.2/52.3mm with 214/208mm spans. Then check the number stamped on the old joint or on the driveshaft tag against the cross-reference list. If there is any doubt, verify against your VIN with the driveline build. A cross-reference is identification, not a fitment guarantee.
Why does this u-joint have two different cap sizes?
It is a conversion-style cross built to join a larger shaft yoke to a smaller yoke on the other side. The 71.2mm caps seat in the big bore, the 52.3mm caps in the small bore. Get the orientation right at assembly or you will damage the cups and the yoke ears.
Are Meritor CP25RPL and CP25RPLS the same joint?
They appear in the same cross-reference family along with 25RPL, 25RPLS, CP25RPL1, CP25RPL3, CP25RPL8, CP25RPL9 and CP25RPL11. The suffixes generally track kit contents and lube arrangement rather than a different cross geometry. Still measure the old part and check the stamped number before ordering.
