This is a manual slack adjuster - the arm that connects your brake chamber pushrod to the S-cam and takes up slack as the shoes wear. It comes in 5, 6, and 7 inch arm lengths under the same base part, KN47001 / 1341041, because one casting gets machined to different arm specs depending on what the OE called for.
You'll find these on air brake systems from '89 up through current production - trailers, straight trucks, dump bodies, whatever's still running manual adjustment instead of automatic slacks. Manual means you're still pulling out the feeler gauge and adjusting by hand, no ASA involved.
Arm length matters because it changes leverage on the cam - too short or too long and your stroke's off, which throws your whole brake adjustment out of spec even if everything else is right.

KN47001 cross-references to Alliance's N42AS/AS1133, a handful of BorgWarner castings (10 351, 10 351HD, 10 354HD, 278010, 278323), and generic aftermarket numbers like 11-10727-000, 18500, M434, and the old Ford C5TZ-2315-A. These aren't identical part numbers because different manufacturers cast and stamp their own, but they're all built to the same spline count, arm length, and clevis pin spacing for a given application.
The spline count on the S-cam end is the thing that'll bite you if you don't check it - 10-spline and 28-spline are both common and they are not interchangeable. Arm length (5, 6, or 7 inch) is the second thing. Get either wrong and the adjuster either won't index onto the cam or your pushrod stroke will be wrong from day one.
Surest way to confirm: pull the old adjuster and read the spline count and arm length off it directly, or run your truck's VIN. Don't just match a number off a parts list and assume it's right - trailer OEMs and truck OEMs don't always spec the same combo even on similar year models.

Can I put a 6 inch arm on where a 5 inch was originally?
